EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS

Carol graduated from Northeast Missouri with a degree in communication with emphasis in public relations and student development. She has served as an enrollment management specialist at Southeastern Community College and an admission counselor at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State University) before serving as a project manager at Ruffalo CODY and Associates. Carol then took the position as director of admission at Mount Mercy, and has been the dean of admission at Central College since January 2000.

Carol has previously served on the executive board as the membership chair and treasurer. She will begin her role as Iowa ACAC President in 2008.

Chris graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and shortly thereafter began his higher education career at Waldorf College. He served as an admission counselor from 1998-2001. In 2001, Chris ventured to Cedar Rapids and began his role as assistant director of admission at Coe College. He held this position for four years. Chris is now beginning his third year as an Outreach Representative for the ICAN College Planning Center in West Des Moines.

Chris was the College Day/College Night co-chair from 2002-2006. He served as president-elect in 2006-2007 and is currently the president of Iowa ACAC. In 2003, Chris received the NACAC Rising Star Award and in 2005 was honored with the IACAC Admission Professional of the Year. He has been a member of NACAC since 2001.

Tom graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with both his bachelor's and master's degrees. He began his career in higher education as admission coordinator at Iowa Western Community College. From there Tom took a position at the University of Iowa where he moved up the ranks to become director of transfer relations and outreach. Tom currently serves as the treasurer of the Iowa Association of College Admission Counseling.

Lisa's professional experience includes 3 years of teaching at the elementary level for the Schaller-Crestland Community School in Schaller, Iowa. For the past 11 years Lisa has specialized in all areas of enrollment management beginning with advising and recruiting at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. She is currently the Director of Enrollment Management at Northwest Iowa Community College. Lisa earned her Bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Community College  Administration through Iowa State University.

Laura Lyddon Linn began serving Drake University as director of admission in September 2005. This marked a return to Drake after an eight year hiatus. She obtained both her bachelor’s and master's degrees from Drake and began working in admissions for Drake in 1990. Laura left in 1998 to serve as dean of enrollment management at Oklahoma City University. In 2000, she moved to The Barstow School in Kansas City, Missouri, as director of admission. During her initial tenure at Drake, she served on the IACAC Executive Board as secretary/treasurer and chair of professional and legislative services. As legislative chair, Laura created the first "Visit the Hill" day. Laura has also been active in the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling and the National Association of Independent Schools. She currently serves as the chair of the Admissions Practices committee.

Michael Barron currently is assistant provost for enrollment services and director of admissions at the University of Iowa. Michael has been at the University of Iowa since 1987. Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Michael was in admissions and enrollment management at the University of Texas at Austin and Angelo State University in Texas. He holds an advanced degree in educational psychology from UT-Austin. He has worked in university admissions and enrollment management for 38 years. Michael is active in the National Associate of College Admission Counseling where he serves as one of Iowa's delegates.

Paul has been a counselor at Iowa City West High School since 1995. Prior to that, he taught physical education at St. Jude’s Elementary School in Cedar Rapids from 1983-1991. During much of that time he also coached football, basketball and softball at LaSalle High School. He also coached football at Iowa City West from 1992-1998. Paul has served on the Counselor Advisory Boards at the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College. Paul earned his Bachelor’s degree from Loras College and his Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from the University of Iowa. He is close to finishing his Master’s degree in Collaborative Teaching and Learning from Graceland University.

Mark Petty is the current dean of admissions at Iowa Wesleyan College. He began his career in admissions in 1997 as a student caller for the University of Iowa Phone Team and went on to earn his bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa. Prior to his current position at Iowa Wesleyan, Petty worked at Buena Vista University. Mark has been an active member of Iowa ACAC since 1999 by serving on the publications committee, spring conference programming committee (co-chair), and nominations committee. He is currently an assembly delegate. In addition, Mark has participated in the Visit the Hill program, presented at the IACAC Spring Conference, and attended several NACAC Conferences.

Anne obtained a bachelor's in journalism and biology from Wichita State. She came to Iowa Lakes in 1981 from a position as information director for the Mid America Cancer Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center. While working there Anne earned a master's in public administration from Minnesota State-Mankato and she is currently working on a dissertation in community college leadership from Colorado State to complete a PhD. Anne is serving as an assembly delegate for the second time and has also been public relations and newsletter chair.

Sharon is a 1994 graduate of Loras College in Dubuque. She began her professional career as a marketing assistant for a California realtor. She moved back to the Midwest in 1995 and joined St. Ambrose University in 1997. Sharon worked with adult transfer students as well as transfer and first year students while at St. Ambrose. She took a position with Clarke College in 2002 as associate director and held that position for three years. Currently, Sharon is director of admission at Loras College.

Sharon has served on the professional development committee, conference planning committees, and the AP committee. She is currently the alternate delegate for Iowa ACAC. Sharon has been a member of NACAC since 2001 and Iowa ACAC since 2002.

Karla received her bachelor's degree in psychology and human service from Buena Vista University and master's degree from Drake University. She worked in admissions at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) for three years before crossing over into high school counseling. Karla was the secondary counselor at Nora Springs-Rock Falls for five years and has been at Mason City High School for the past year and a half.

Chevy is a graduate of Coe College and has been working in the office of admission at Central College for the past five years. In Chevy's role as an associate director of admission, he works with students from the Des Moines metro area and the state of Texas. Chevy served on the College Day/College planning committee and is currently is co-chair. He is always interested in hearing feedback from the college fair circuit.

Andy got his start in admissions as a student tour guide and served as the office intern his senior year before graduating from Clarke College in 2002 with a bachelor's in communications. Andy currently serves as the director of admissions and is working on his MBA. Andy has been actively involved with IACAC by serving on both the conference programming committee and College Day/College Night committee. In addition, he has also attended the NACAC Conference the past four years.

Jason graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in English literature. Following graduation he was a graduate student in English at the University of Northern Iowa. Jason then worked with the Educational Talent Search program at University of Northern Iowa for eight years as an advisor to first-generation, low-income students in grades 6-12. Jason is currently the admissions coordinator at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and has been with the human relations committee for two years.

After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1997, Amy returned to her hometown of Macomb, Illinois, to pursue a master's degree in college student personnel at Western Illinois University. While there she worked as a residence hall director. Amy returned to the University of Northern Iowa's Office of Admissions in 2001 where she keeps busy traveling, coordinating Preview Days, and co-advising the Student Admissions Ambassadors. She was a member and is currently chair of the professional development committee.

Jen has served as Senior Admissions Counselor/Telecounseling Coordinator at Iowa State University for the past three years. Prior to that she served as an academic advisor in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University. She became involved in Iowa ACAC with the 2007 conference planning committee and has served on the Publications and Marketing Committee for the past year. Jen earned her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Higher Education from Iowa State University.

Gail McMahon has 22 years of experience in the college admissions field. A former admissions counselor and director of admissions, she is now public relations manager for the Iowa Communications Network. Gail serves as the administrative assistant for the Iowa ACAC, as well as coordinator of the College Day/College Night programs.
